Baked Chicken Shawarma
Simple take on Shawarma, baked in the oven and tender, flavorful bites
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- 2 TBS olive oil
- 3 TBS lemon juice
- 2 TBS garlic squeeze tube
Instructions
- Place the dry marinade ingredients in a large bowl and mix to blend.
- Add the chicken pieces and toss them with the dry spices to coat thoroughly.
- Add the remaining wet marinade ingredients and stir to evenly coat the chicken. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 4 hrs.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place the chicken pieces on a rimmed baking sheet, lined with parchment paper. Bake the chicken until cooked through, about 15 mins,
- Serve with warm pita bread and side Greek salad.
