Baked Chicken Shawarma

Simple take on Shawarma, baked in the oven and tender, flavorful bites

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 TBS olive oil
  • 3 TBS lemon juice
  • 2 TBS garlic squeeze tube

Instructions
 

  • Place the dry marinade ingredients in a large bowl and mix to blend.
  • Add the chicken pieces and toss them with the dry spices to coat thoroughly.
  • Add the remaining wet marinade ingredients and stir to evenly coat the chicken. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 4 hrs.
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Place the chicken pieces on a rimmed baking sheet, lined with parchment paper. Bake the chicken until cooked through, about 15 mins,
  • Serve with warm pita bread and side Greek salad.
