Homemade Beef Jerky
Homemade beef jerky, marinated and prepared in countertop food dehydrator
Ingredients
Smokey Maple Flavor
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tsp liquid smoke Mesquite
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Smokey Mesquite Flavor
- ½ cup Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 TBS Brown sugar
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 TBS liquid smoke Mesquite
Instructions
- Trim the visible fat from the meat. Place the meat in the freezer for 30-60 mins. This will make t easier to slice in thin pieces.
- Combine marinade ingredients.
- Remove the meat from the freezer and slice ¼" strips against the grain. Use a meat mallet to even thickness.
- Put the sliced meat and marinade a glass bowl and massage until all slices are covered evenly. Marinate in the fridge overnight.
- Remove meat slices and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess marinade.
- Place meat pieces on dehydrator drying racks with plenty of spaces in between for easy air flow.
- Dry for 5½ – 6 hours at 165° F.
